Kate Coomer is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the interplay between emotion, environment, and social commentary. A graduate of the renowned Hornsey College of Art, Kate holds a fine art degree and a postgraduate Art Teachers Certificate. Her early successes include winning the prestigious Stowells Trophy and the Young Contemporaries Award, with exhibitions at The Royal Academy and The Institute of Contemporary Arts—an impressive foundation for her future endeavors.
Kate’s career has been defined by a seamless integration of professional artistry and educational innovation. In the private sector, she has worked on visual design and photography projects for leading architectural practices in London. In education, Kate’s cross-phase expertise spans teaching students aged 5 to 18, mentoring teachers, and pioneering visual arts programs. Her work as a key member of Suffolk Local Education Authority’s Art Advisory Team led to innovative projects that impacted arts education on a broad scale.
With solo and group exhibitions across East Anglia and London, Kate’s work is widely collected in the UK and Europe. Notably, the Italian Embassy has acquired one of her mixed-media pieces. A published author of Learning Through Art and Artefacts, Kate’s commitment to both her artistic practice and education is evident. Her sketchbooks and journals are integral to her meticulous creative process, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the thought and care that shape each work.
